“Hellenic Hull Management has been working tirelessly for 21 years to support Greek shipping”, as Mr. Ilias Tsakiris, General Manager of Hellenic Hull Management, points out in his interview at maritimes TV.

He refers to the difficult period of bank closures in Cyprus two years ago, saying that Greek shipowners – members of Hellenic Hull – supported them, as for the investment of American Club in the new company American Hellenic Hull Insurance Company.

With this collaboration the Hellenic Hull name will travel the four cardinal directions, while it makes Greek marine insurance market protagonist in the global marine insurance.

The American P&I Club remains consistent for years in providing high- level marine insurance services to Greek shipping and its own development course.

In the context of the large presentation which was organized by the Club in early December, relevant to the investment of American Club in American Hellenic Insurance Company, Ltd. (Cyprus) and the annual review of insurance company, Mr. Joe Hughes, President and CEO, Mr. Vince Solarino, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SCB, Inc., and Mrs. Dorothea Ioannou, Managing Director for Piraeus office, spoke at maritimes TV about their new investment in a difficult juncture, believing in the enormous potential of both Greek shipping and the expertise followed by the new scheme, led by Ilias Tsakiris, while they note that now the American Hellenic is addressed to the vessel insurance on a global scale.

Greek ship ownership has a long tradition in the transportation of energy raw materials, a situation that has intensified in recent years, as Mr. Kostis Stambolis, Vice President & General Director of IENE points out in his interview at maritimes TV, in the context of the 3rd International Seminar- Energy & Shipping, at the Eugenides Foundation.

He speaks about the International Seminar which has a didactic character as he notes and he explains that the cooperation with the University of Piraeus is due to this reason.

He stresses that Piraeus is a large shipping center, he refers to the role of the institute which monitors and analyzes the trends, saying that there is a background that supports all openings of Greek shipping in the energy industry.

He adds that the issue of security is increasingly involved in the ratings for shipping matters in direct connection with energy, where IENE helps through analysis, to make them more comprehensible so that the necessary measures will be promptly taken.

Marina Astir Palace takes a certification from Lloyd’s Register (LR), which is pioneer worldwide. The method followed by the inspectors of Lloyd’s Register, is based on a detailed survey on the daily management of the marina.

Today’s certification is the continuation of a pilot program which launched two years ago and aims to expand in Europe and worldwide.

Because we believed in Man…

On Wednesday 20 April 2016, HELMEPA presented the Bridge Simulator that its corporate member DNV GL kindly offered.

The Founding Members of HELMEPA, Dr. Mattheos Los and Captain Panagiotis Tsakos, and the Honorary Members Mr. Pavlos Ioannidis and Spyros Maurikis were present at the event. The Union of Greek Shipowners was represented by Mr. Panos Laskaridis, PEPEN by its President Mr. E. Tsikalakis, while from the Navy, Rear Admiral Alexandros Diakopoulos, Commander of Naval Training and staff officers attended the presentation.

Very important persons spoke to the camera of maritimes TV, such as Mr. Dimitris Mitsatsos who noted that HELMEPA was founded as a volunteer organization in 1982 and its founders much supported the company without thinking about personal gain and Mr. Pavlos Ioannidis, the inspirer of HELMEPA training programs who said that he moved around the grounds of aviation safety in shipping “…and indeed we implemented it in 1984. IMO made it mandatory after 15 years…”

Capt. Panagiotis Tsakos, a founding member of HELMEPA said that they supported this effort with all their strength, “Because we believed in Man…” as he stressed. Also, he feels satisfied with the progress of HELMEPA and he noted that in order to exist and achieve great deeds, Greek shipping should have Greek sailors.

Mr. Theodoros Dritsas, Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, highlighted the importance of exhibition for Greek economy and stressed that Greek Shipping has the highest quality worldwide.

Mr. Theodoros Veniamis, President of Union of Greek Shipowners, said that POSIDONIA confirms the preeminence of Greek Shipping in the global arena.

Mr. Charalampos Fafalios, President of Greek Shipping Cooperation Committee in London, pointed out that the Greek miracle will continue to exist provided there are Greeks in shipping and Greek flag on ships.

Mr. Charalampos Simantonis, President of Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association, for his part, said that POSIDONIA is a great opportunity for shortsea shipping and referred to the new initiative of EENMA, a European plan which can lay the foundations for the revival of Greek shipbuilding base.

Mr. Theodoros Vokos, Executive Director of Posidonia Exhibitions SA, spoke about the benefits that Greek economy could get from the exhibition industry development.

Mr. Themistoklis Vokos, co-founder of Posidonia International Exhibitions SA, referred to the need for extroversion of Greek economy and the search for opportunities, noting that as Greek shipping grows, so POSIDONIA will reflect this glamour.

These interviews were given in the context of the press conference that was held on Thursday 2 June 2016, on the occasion of 25th Posidonia International Exhibition opening.

ECOMASYN: Greek shipowners can trust us

ECOMASYN, a cooperative whose members are the most respected companies in the ship repair industry.

It is a move that lays the foundations for the resurgence of ship repairing in Greece. It is unique for both Greek and European data. ECOMASYN is the first in Europe in the areas of marine equipment supply, energy saving and generally green shipping.

In the context of POSIDONIA 2016 International Shipping Exhibition and the completion of one year since the foundation of ECOMASYN, its officers and members held a reception at the Yacht Club of Greece, on Tuesday 31 May.
