In an exclusive interview at maritimes TV, President of COSCO Shipping capt. Xu Lirong notes that the financial difficulties facing Greece are not only a topic for Greece, but also a global occurrence. He emphasizes that “We believe that with our collaborations and our partnerships we will succeed”.

He refers to the new cruise pier Saint Nikolas saying that “This investment is a beginning. With regard to our agreements, go ahead at a good pace. In the future we will have more and more such events”.

With reference to the basic future plans of Chinese group for Piraeus, he says that another larger cruise pier will be constructed so that the port of Piraeus can accommodate the largest cruise ships in the world. Piraeus Container Terminal infrastructure will be upgraded and developed even more, as the shipbuilding area.

Moreover, he stresses that the logistic center will be done and the railway network will be upgraded.

Mrs Moisidou Maria of Hill Dickinson speaks at maritimes TV about the new changes and their application to the marine insurance act of 1906, noting that “The changes were made in order to bring more balance to the obligations of parties with respect to three main points”, while saying that the period of transition will last for several years.

For his part, professor of Law at the University of Southampton, James Dave stresses that this concerns not only the marine insurance but also insurances in general. He points out that it is likely to have a period of uncertainty and he recommends the involved parties to act immediately and the contracts change, if necessary.

These interviews were given in the context of the seminar about the changes in act of 1906 (MIA 1906), which was organized by American Hellenic Hull. As Claims Manager of American Hellenic Hull, Kostas Karavasilis noted that this is the beginning of a series of seminars on marine insurance issues, which are addressed to all those involved in the industry, both in Greece and abroad, where American Hellenic Hull has a significant presence.

Prisma’s LAROS system is a holistic wireless onboard data collection platform for vessel performance management. DNV GL’s ECO Insight portal will provide advanced fleet performance analytics based on LAROS onboard data.
