Comparative Analysis of New-Buildings (Handy Bulkers) between Hellenic Shipyards (HSY) and a Modern Far Eastern Shipyard (FES) with Time Difference of 40 Years (1973-2013)

seventh meeting for the 2017-2018 season, during which Mr. Dimos Iliopoulos, Naval Architect and Marine Engineer at Resolve Marine Group (RMG), will speak on the subject of:

Comparative Analysis of New-Buildings (Handy Bulkers) between Hellenic Shipyards (HSY) and a Modern Far Eastern Shipyard (FES) with Time Difference of 40 Years (1973-2013)

The first part of the presentation will focus on Hellenic Shipyards’ timely delivery of handy-bulkers which was by about 3.5 months earlier than that of a modern Far Eastern Shipyard for similar newbuildings, even though 40 years have already elapsed (1973-2013).

Having spent months on collecting the necessary data and statistics, the presentation is now very integrated and has already incorporated various historical data and photos, some of which date back to 1957.

Moreover, the presentation justifies the reasons of Skaramanga advantages on pure technical basis and refers to the respective technological developments and innovations, which have been created and established over the last 40 years of shipbuilding history.

During the second part of the presentation the 20 most important innovations / technological advancements will be presented. Over the last few years most of them have been incorporated in the production and engineering activities. However, they were not available in those years (i.e. middle of ʽ70s), when the Skaramanga yard was manufacturing and delivering the B-35 handy size bulkers.
